World Cup Bananza
So the World Cup in Korea is serious business. It reminds me of home....sniff sniff :) You know how us Irish folk have great national pride in our little country's soccer team? Well here it is Italia '90 all over again! Except now it's South Africa '10! ...no it doesn't have the same ring to it. Soccer isn't the most popular sport here (nothing's going to remove baseball and the Kia Tigers from that place of worship) but even Koreans who never watch soccer (i.e. non-sporty girly girls) are now talking about the matches and how Park Ji-Sung celebrates his goals....arms waving madly (Yes if they ever watched the Premiership they would not be so surprised!)This takes up much of the morning 'Mocha' coffee-mix teacher talk-time. Tonight Korea play Uruguay. Most of my friends are gone to watch it at the World Cup Stadium in Gwangju but I am a northern Gwangju lady so that place is a bit of a hike for me....plus I'm lazy......plus I have my beginner Korean exam on Tuesday. Anyway I'm feeling a bit lost tonight sitting at home alone in my studio .....the 3-month mark passed yesterday so culture shock is bang on time :) This blogging business is new to me and I have to say I find it therapeutic :) Even if no one reads this...I feel better now than I did before I started. Who would have thought!
